Turkish Language Course – Conversation/ Speaking Class - Evening

The objective for participants of this course is to improve their use and understanding of Turkish to have conservations in Turkish where its use is required in daily life (e.g. social occasions and daily interactions). An additional goal is to improve participants’ listening and comprehension skills; enable them to recount their thoughts and feelings, and make sure that they continue to learn the language after completing the courses.  

In teaching the four intermediate skills of language, reading, listening, writing, and speaking, a method known as the ‘drama method’ is used during classes. This method facilitates retention of information, and is often considered to be more entertaining and straightforward. The drama method helps accelerate the learning process by making use of body language and imagination while practicing phonological elements such as stress, intonation, and rhythm.  

There are various additional learning aids used to support the courses. In the classroom, projectors and audio systems are used. In addition, native Turkish speakers are often invited to classes to ensure real-life simulations in a fun and relaxed environment.   The program will last for 8 weeks – 40 hours and will be delivered face-to-face.

Who Should Participate

The program is open to participants who have already begun learning Turkish language and who want to improve their speaking skills. Individuals, working people, international students in İstanbul, and İstanbul Bilgi University students can attend these courses.

Content of the Training Program

A lecturer experienced in teaching Turkish as a foreign language teaches the courses in the program. During the trainings, various authentic examples and language teaching resources and tools will be supported with materials to be produced specifically for the needs of the participants, and teaching will be based on practice. At the end of the program, the participants will not only gain the language skills they need such as introducing themselves & exchanging greetings, meeting new people, shopping, ordering food, making a telephone call, receiving health services, traveling for pleasure, reading signs, listening to Turkish music, and talking about hobbies but they will also benefit from the guidance provided on Turkish culture, social structure, and human relations.

Certification

At the end of the training, participants will be given Turkish Language A2 – B1 Certification (depending on their scores) in accordance with the European Common Language Criteria approved by İstanbul Bilgi University Turkish Language Teaching and Research Center (BİLGİ TÜRMER).
